Patrick Nederkoorn /NL – „Die Orangene Gefahr – Die Holländer kommen“

Theatre 3 | Mo, Time: 14:00 – 14:35
Fair Stand 2.3.12

A few years ago Dutch comedian Patrick Nederkoorn read an article about the ’De-Hollandisation of the World’. If just half the climate forecasts are right, it’s possible that Holland will someday vanish into the North Sea. And then? Will 17 million orange refugees roll on the left-hand side of the road into Germany in their caravans? Will Germany then become their ’stepfatherland’? And will the Germans cope with that? The ’Orange Danger’ is an amusing and bitter-sweet look at cultural differences, migration and climate change. Every single performance at the 2019 La Strade Festival in Bremen was sold out. Patrick Nederkoorn is a cabaret artist from Amsterdam. The ’Orange Danger’ is his first production in German.

TEATRO SÓ /DE,PT – „Sorriso“

Stage Area Central Foyer
Mo, Time: 19:15 – 19:45 | Tu, Time: 12:00 – 12:30
Fair Stand 2.4.29

How can you write a love story?
The love of an old couple after a lifetime together. The death of one overshadows the life of the other with loneliness, loneliness in which the power of memory evokes pictures in which love carries on living. The one who has gone is now invisible. An attentive guardian angel, an invisible lover, whose kisses feel like the breeze. His soul lives on in the air breathed by those who loved him, hoping to meet again but knowing that their lives go on without him. Loneliness is a recurring theme in the plays of Teatro Só, although the characters are never plagued by despair but are instead grateful for the memories. They live full of tender gestures in the present.

Trygve Wakenshaw /NZ, GB – „Nautilus“

Theatre 2 | Mo, Time: 20:00 – 21:30
Fair Stand 2.2.33

Born in New Zealand and living in Prague, Trygve Wakenshaw trained at the prestigious Paris clown school Ecole Philippe Gaulier, whose famous alumni include Emma Thompson and Sacha Baron Cohen. Wakenshaw’s unique style combines pantomime, physical comedy and a good dose of shenanigans – he is crazy, daring and uniquely eccentric. This celebrated and award-winning clown presents his talent in his piece ’Nautilus’, which continues to be a bestseller on stages and at festivals worldwide. In a duet with Australian comedian Barnie Duncan, he presents ’Mad Office’, in which nonsensical everyday office life is turned into a hilarious celebration of the banal by bizarre slapstick. Trygve Wakenshaw has just presented his latest work, ’Only Bones’, at the London International Mime Festival.

Compagnie Gingolph Gateau /FR – „21 × 29,7“

Theatre 3 | Tu, Time: 12:00 – 12:45

In our paperless society, 21 × 29,7 reveals how paper stands as essential aid to happiness, small or big. What if happiness hides between the pleats?

Shortcuts /DE – „Shortcuts“

Conference room 1 | Tu, Time: 15:30-17:00
Fair Stand 2.0.9

Year after year, theatre in public spaces is being embraced by millions of spectators. Countless festivals and events reflect the flourishing artistic dialogue with public spaces. The Federal Association for Theatre in Public Spaces is inviting people to become acquainted with current theatre projects and new productions for public spaces in Germany. The projects reflect the work being done on this scene and reveal the diversity of these genres. In Shortcuts, eight groups present themselves in short productions in five-minute tact. Whether they are large-scale productions, site-specific theatre, walk acts, performance or contemporary circus, the performances give an insight into the various artistic fields of the theatre makers and are intended to arouse interest in theatre in public spaces as well as helping artists to network with promoters, producers and other professionals.

“Out Of The Blue” is a small contemporary format dance designed to be shown on the street where two performers are on stage. It is a fresh and fun work that comes from the need to enjoy the pleasure of dancing freely, of moving, disconnecting, get it out of the routine already established. Reason why this proposal is to have the public enjoying as much as we do. LaRutan wants his audience to smile, to feel the rhythm of the excitement to which the piece leads.
“Out Of The Blue” aims to break with the preconceived forms where there is no place for the cavity of the bones and the emotions of the entrails. It breaks with identities based on current prototypes, transforming them on a malleable identities and transformable in time and space.

men in back tell stories from their crazy working and private lives, that seem permanently turned upside down. Perfect illusion, surprising characters and amusing stories have been gripping and exciting audiences for years at international festivals and events - in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The shows are suitable for children and adults alike, since illusion is something new and fascinating for every eye. After years on the street theatre festival circuit, men in back are focusing more on playing indoors (galas, variety, etc.) from this year on. Why not talk with them about it? men in back were given the ’award for excellence’ at the 2017 Haifakids festival in Israel as a prize for their “originality, fascinating idea, virtuoso pantomime, wonderful humour, astonishing and hypnotic use of their hands and magnificent dialogue without a single word”, as well as First Audience Prize at the 2019 Lenzburg Jugglers’ and Cabaret Festival.

Dr. Franziska Trapp /DE – Why this (contemporary) circus?

Conference Room 4 | Mo, 15:00 – 16:30 Uhr
Stand 2.0.2

In 2019 New Circus as a category has become a fixed part of the Ruhrfestspiele festival, the Berlin Circus Festival has turned five, the Circus Dance Festival Cologne came into being with the help of the dance pact and the University of Münster is organising a teaching research project with contemporary circus artists. At the same time, Ferrero is co-operating in a Germany-wide marketing campaign with Roncalli, Stage Entertainment and Cirque du Soleil are joining up to produce the circus musical Paramour and Disney’s classic Dumbo celebrates its première as a live action film. In short, circus is ubiquitous just now in both highbrow and pop culture. But what is the attraction of this genre in the 21st Century? How far does this form of art and entertainment correlate with contemporary social interests? What steps are possible to promote Contemporary Circus, already established in France as an artform for several decades, in Germany too? Circus scholar Dr. Franziska Trapp (see p. 282) goes into these questions in a thought-provoking introduction followed by a panel discussion with representatives of the French network Grand Ciel and the German Federal Association of Contemporary Circus (BUZZ).
Founded in 2010, Grand Ciel is a network of cultural institutions which have come together to support collectively the visibility and continued development of Contemporary Circus in the French region of Grand Est. The organisation currently has 21 members from seven different Départements in the Grand Est region.
The Federal Association of Contemporary Circus (Bundesverband Zeitgenössischer Zirkus e.V. (BUZZ)) is a network and nationwide platform for Contemporary Circus in Germany. It acts as an umbrella organisation for the main organisations and represents the interests of professional circus people in dealings with cultural policymakers. The aim is to enhance the visibility of Contemporary Circus in Germany and push for public, structured funding for this artform.

POETRY SLAM 2020

Theatre 3 | Tu, Time: 20:00 – 22:00

Poetry Slam is on everybody’s lips and in everybody’s ears. No wonder, because texts that usually vegetate between two book covers are suddenly brought back to life. At a Poetry Slam, the authors step up to the mike with their texts, without the protection of a lectern with a glass of water and reading lamp. It works perfectly – be it in a cellar bar or a theatre, in the metropolis or a small town, the shows are sold out and the mikes rock. It just so happens that the poetry slam scene is also an unrivalled talent pool. Well-known cabaret artists such as Marc-Uwe Kling, Bodo Wartke or Sebastian Krämer and also noted literary fi gures such as Nora Gomringer or the actor Michael Lenz earned their stripes as slammers. For these reasons a poetry slam show is an absolute must at the IKF. We have invited some of the best slammers on the scene and they will be demonstrating what is possible with the spoken word. Slam poet Felix Römer will be hosting the show.

Atelier Denino /DE, FR – „Aktualitäten“

Stage Area Central Foyer | We, Time: 12:00 – 12:20
Stand 2.6.28

News has the same “taste”, the same gentleness and the same brutality no matter whether it is yesterday’s or today’s. That’s why the Compagnie de l’Echelle and Atelier Denino have decided to report on it and, by digging up a few facts, to show that there really are things that we forget. A story to make you laugh or cry. On the dark screens of two old radios objects and puppets move around. Two experienced newsreaders can also be seen, passionate collectors of news. The idea to stage this piece together arose from the meeting of Nino (puppeteer and passionate tinkerer of the Denino Studio) with Bettina Vielhaber (puppeteer and actress) and their experience of involvement together in the Great Mechanical Theatre’. It is a happy piece with no limitations but plenty of love.
