Out of the Deep Blue

Out of the Deep Blue is a physical theatre spectacle for festivals and families. It follows Eko, a 4-metre sea giant who rises from the deep and meets little Violet, a courageous young girl, on the shore.   Through dance, movement, and masterful puppeteering, the show dives into the themes of the climate emergency and the biodiversity crisis. Eko is operated by 5 world-class puppeteers and contemporary dancers.   Created in 2021, the work has toured widely across the UK and internationally. The performance unfolds in 2 parts: a 25-minute promenade where the giant engages with location, architecture, environment, and audience; followed by a 25-minute dance-theatre duet at a set space, with walkabout typically leading into the static show. Themes of climate care, empathy, and wonder invite all ages to imagine.
