The weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT features full-page portraits of artists like Bob Dylan, Billie Eilish – or Maxi Pongratz, whom they describe as "David Bowie on the accordion." Having risen to fame with his band "Kofelgschroa," his subtle lyrics and his unique accordion style, Maxi Pongratz is now an indispensable part of the German cabaret scene. With an inquisitive eye and open ears, he moves between city and country, pub music and Dadaism, tradition and rebellion, wit and melancholy, poetry and sound, shyness and mischief. The Süddeutsche Zeitung writes that a Maxi Pongratz performance unfolds "a beauty that warms not only the heart but also the mind." And the Abendzeitung remarks: "Life is so beautiful when you hear this."
